The Scales
In music, A scale is a group of notes increasing or decreasing in order.
A half step is the interval from one note to the next one.
A whole step is 2 half steps.
To build a scale on a black key, we lower or raise the notes of the white keys a half step.
There are: 7 Major scales on the white keys, 5 on the black keys
7 Minor scales on the white keys, 5 on the black keys.

The spaces between the notes are:
1 W step (whole), 1 W step, 1 H step (half), 1 W, 1W, 1W, 1 H.
