Chord Inversions
We can play chords in differents positions.
We just have to change the order of the notes.
The root position: Root-Third-Fith
The first inversion: Third-Fifth-Root
The second inversion: Fifth-Root-Third
To spell the inversions, we write the letter of the chord, a slash symbol and the name of the inverted note.
Example with the C chord:
C
C/E
C/G
C in the root position: C C in the first inversion: C/E C in the Second inversion: C/G
C-E-G E-G-C G-C-E
