Chords
A chord is the combination of 3 or more notes played simultaneously.
There are the Major chords and the Minor chords. It is composed by the root, the third and the fifth.
The root is the the bass. The third gives you the mood of the chord. It can be happy with the Major chord and sad using the Minor one.
These 3 notes are also called triads.
The Major Chords
There are 7 Major chords on the white keys : C,D,E,F,G,A,B
5 Major chords on the black keys: Db, Eb, F#, Ab, Bb
To build a chord, we start from the root then we go two whole steps above for the third and one and a half step above for the fifth.
The spaces between the notes are:
2 whole steps between the root and the third.
1 and a half steps between the third and the fifth.
